Image

Shannon Nelson, CPA, CITP, Member of Dermody, Burke & Brown, CPAs, LLC, successfully completed the certification process with the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) to earn her designation of Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).

The CFE credential denotes proven expertise in fraud prevention, detection and deterrence.  In order to become a CFE, an anti-fraud professional must meet a stringent set of criteria and pass a rigorous exam administered by the ACFE.  Nelson has successfully met the ACFE’s character, experience, and education requirements for the CFE credential, and has demonstrated knowledge in four areas critical to the fight against fraud: Fraud Prevention and Deterrence, Fraudulent Financial Transactions, Fraud Investigation and Legal Elements of Fraud.

Nelson joined Dermody, Burke & Brown in 1989 and is the Member serving as the Firm’s Auditing and Accounting Department Director.  She also serves as the lead Member on many clients in the healthcare, school district, and not-for-profit industries.  Nelson is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
