John joined the firm as a Principal after Barone, Howard & Co., a full-service accounting, tax and consulting firm based in New Hartford and Rome, merged with Dermody, Burke & Brown. John has over forty years of experience in public accounting providing audit, accounting and tax services to a wide range of organizations ranging from for-profit business entities to not-for-profit organizations.  He is also involved in tax advisory and preparation services for individuals.

John graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Upon graduation, John spent four years with an accounting firm in Arizona before returning home to the Central New York area as a CPA. He has served as President of the Utica Chapter of the New York State Society of CPAs, and is also a member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

John is active in the community and has served on several not-for-profit organizations as both a director and treasurer. Currently, he is the treasurer and a board member for the Utica area’s refugee resettlement agency (Center, Inc.). He is also the treasurer and board member of the Greater Utica Sports Hall of Fame, Inc. and serves as treasurer of the Glass Hill Golf Club Inc. Previously, John served as the treasurer for Rotary District 7150, which encompasses approximately 25 Rotary Clubs, including the greater Syracuse area. In his running days, John served as a board member and treasurer for The Boilermaker Road Race, Inc.
