Melissa Lanigan, Tax Senior Associate of Dermody, Burke & Brown, CPAs, LLC, has successfully completed the certification process to earn her designation as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

Melissa joined the firm in 2007.  As a Tax Senior Associate, Melissa’s responsibilities include providing comprehensive accounting, financial statement and tax compliance and planning services to closely-held family businesses, and their owners, in a variety of industries.  She also works on several large multi-state manufacturing, retailing and distribution engagements as well as having responsibility for many employee benefit plan audits.  Melissa received her Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Accounting from Niagara University.

The CPA license is the accounting profession’s highest standard of competence, a symbol of achievement and assurance of quality.  To earn the prestige associated with the CPA license, one is required to demonstrate knowledge and competence by meeting high educational standards, passing the CPA exam and completing a specific amount of public accounting experience.
