David de Silva Elected Chair of New York State Board for Public Accountancy

David de Silva, partner and CPA at Dermody, Burke & Brown, CPAs, LLC, was elected Chair of the New York State Board for Public Accountancy at its April 2013 board meeting in New York City.                                               

Each licensed profession within New York State has an appointed State Board that advises and assists the Board of Regents and the State Education Department on matters of professional regulation.  The State Boards are comprised of professional members and one or more representatives of the general public.

The general responsibility of the State Board is public protection and quality professional preparation and conduct.  Specifically, the State Board of Public Accountancy advises the New York State Education Department and Board of Regents on licensing requirements, licensing examinations and practice issues, and Board members participate in licensure disciplinary and/or restoration and moral character proceedings.
